Dahil malapit na maimplement ang Shorting sa market, pagusapan natin to.

In an article na nilabas ng PSE last week, they confirmed the implementation of Short Selling or Shorting sa Philippine stocks exchange on Monday, October 23, 2023. Mr. Monzon reiterated that the stocks eligible for shorting will be those in the PSEi, MidCap, and DivY indices, plus any ETFs.

Ang Shorting o pagbebenta ng hindi pa pag-aari ay isang paraan ng pag-trade sa stock market na kumikita kapag bumaba o kung tingin mo ay bababa ang presyo ng isang stock.

Ang proseso ay ganito: manghiram ka muna ng stock sa broker mo, ibenta mo ito sa market, at bumili ulit ng stock kapag mas mababa na ang presyo para ibalik sa broker mo. Ang profit mo ay ang difference between the selling price and your buying price. 

Ang shorting ay kabaligtaran ng trading long o pagbili ng stock na inaasahang tataas ang presyo. Sa trading long, ang kita mo ay ang pagkakaiba ng presyo ng pagbili at pagbenta. Sa shorting, mas mataas ang risk kaysa sa reward dahil ang maximum na pwede mong kitain ay limitado sa presyo ng pagbenta, pero ang maximum na pwede mong mawala ay walang limitasyon dahil pwedeng tumaas nang tumaas ang presyo ng stock.

For example, You think na ang stock ni Ayala Corp (AC) is overvalued and will drop soon. So nanghiram ka ng 10 shares of AC sa broker mo broker at PHP 620/sh for a total of PHP 6,200. 

After a week, bumaba ang price ni AC to PHP500/sh. So nag buy back ka ng 10 shares  at PHP500 for a total of PHP5,000. Ibabalik mo na ang hiniram mo a broker na 10shares and you get to keep yung difference na PHP1,200.

Kaya kung gusto mong mag-short sa stock market, dapat alam mo ang mga risks at rewards na kasama nito. Hindi ito para sa lahat, lalo na kung hindi ka handa sa volatility o pagbabago-bago ng market.

Soon, pag usapan naman natin kung paano exactly ang proseso ng pag short gamit ang inyong paboritong broker. Sa ngayon kasi ay wala pang nilalabas na procedure ang mga brokers natin.
